GUYANA Elections Commission’s (GECOM’s) Chair, ,Justice (Ret’d) Claudette Singh, has dismissed as “mischief”, false information being peddled that she is in collusion with GECOM’s Information Technology Manager, Aneal Giddings, lo manipulate the election results.
The rumour has been circulating, via social media, in the past days, alleging that, in an audio recording of a conversation, the Chair was heard planning to “manipulate” the elections.
By way of a letter on Friday, Justice Singh distanced herself from the rumours stating: ยท’I wish to emphatically state that I do not have ln10wledge of any such conversation nor am I involved in any plot to ensure any particular party is declared the winner of the 2020 elections. There has been a transparent process to count the votes and the legal process ha5 taken its course. There is absolutely no need for manipulation. The circulation of such recording and peddling of those allegations are designed to create mischief in an already tensed and charged political environment ,
The GECOM Chair bas since called on those responsible to desist from spreading such information, immediately, as it could impede on public trust, peace and stability.
