THE Private Sector Commission (PSC) bas stated that it believes democracy bas Prevailed in the decision of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Chair to direct that a final report for the elections declaration be prepared.
The directive was given to Chief Elections Officer (CEO) Keith Lowenfield who is expected to submit his report to GECOM Chair Justice (Ret’d) Claudette Singh, today. The PSC stated in a release on Wednesday that the results of the national recount point to the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) as the winners and such must be declared. “The Private Sector Commission is gratified that democracy has prevailed and that the people’s voice has been heard and acknowledged, protected by the constitution which governs our country,” the release stated. The PSC said that it looks forward to the swearing in of PPP/C presidential candidate, Dr. lrfaan Mohammed Ali and recognition of the decision by President David Granger.
It stated “The Private Sector Commission calls upon the PPP/C, tbt APĀNU+AFC and all of the contesting political parties to ensure that their reactive supporters recognise and accept the results of tbt elections and remain calm, peaceful and, now, join bands together to collectively meet the enormous economic, political and COVID-19 challenges to move our country forward.”
