Recount exercise revealed a very large number of anomalies and fraud

Dear Editor,
PLEASE permit me space in your newspaper to comment on the March 2, 2020 Elections, and the decision handed down by the Appeal Court.  The recount exercise revealed a very large number of anomalies and fraud.  The recount results showed that the PPP/C had the most valid ballots cast during the elections, however, we should note that a valid ballot is not necessarily a valid vote.  The Judges ruled that only valid votes can be used in the final report by the CEO.

For all the impartial observers who are calling for the recount numbers to be used in the final report, please stop and take a breath and look at this election results as a teaching moment for your children and grandchildren. You have to follow the laws and do what is right. Guyana is not lawless country; we are law-abiding people. Why is it so hard for people to accept that?

Is it the will of the Guyanese people for fraud and stealing to become their way of life?  No, it is not!  Are we teaching our children that it is okay to disregard the law and win at any cost; to steal and cheat?  As a proud Guyanese, I think not; we are better than that.   I think the simple answer is valid ballot vs valid vote.  I am just going to leave this here.

Regards,
Concerned Guyanese
